Rather than a single specialty, it connects environmental medicine, public health, clinical science, ecology, and Earth observation.
Its value lies in studying exposures that often occur together. Heat, aridity, ultraviolet radiation, and dust vary with season, terrain, and human activity; a combined framework produces questions that better reflect real environments.
International research trends
International work is moving from isolated hazards toward systems that combine climate, exposure, vulnerability, health services, comparable cohorts, field sensing, and community participation.
